Keep Going!

End of Year Wins with Coach Brian

This time of year can be really difficult for all of us. Heck, I own the gym, I work full time in it, and even I am having a hard time getting my workouts in. Kids’ schedules ramped up. Family and extended-family gatherings fill the calendar. Quality time becomes a priority, and suddenly meal prep takes a hit. Sweets seem to appear out of thin air. Discipline feels harder to grab onto, and consistency starts slipping through your fingers.

You’re not alone. This is normal. We’ve seen this season challenge people year after year. But here’s the truth, this is also the season where habits are built, resilience is forged, and long-term athletes are made.

Fitness isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up, especially when life gets messy. It’s about finding small wins when big wins feel out of reach. It’s how we build a fitness-forward lifestyle not just for now, but for the decades ahead. CrossFit defines health as increased work capacity across broad time, modal domain, and throughout a lifetime.

We are training for longevity.
We train for physical preparedness.
We train so our future selves can look back and say, “Thank you.”

Earlier this season we asked for your “Why I MidState.” Your why isn’t just a slogan. It is your anchor. It is what pulls you through seasons of time crunch, stress, and distraction. It is the reminder that what you do today matters, even on the imperfect days.

Here is your call to action. Show up anyway, even if it is only 30 minutes, even if it needs to be modified. Win the small battles. One solid meal. One workout. One healthy choice. Lean into your community because you are surrounded by people fighting the same fight. Reconnect with your why and let it move you forward.

This season doesn’t need to derail your progress. It can shape it.

This is resilience.
This is consistency.
This is where lifelong athletes are made.

Let’s finish the year strong, together. And congratulations to anyone getting their first pull-ups or muscle-ups after this mini gymnastics cycle. Thank you Coach Gabby for helping so many athletes level up.

To keep it real, here’s a win from my own family. While we were on a holiday trip, we saved money and stayed focused on our nutrition by prepping 18 hard-boiled eggs, cooked bacon and brought some pop-tarts. For lunch we had charcuterie boards with cucumbers, strawberries, blueberries, and cold cuts. And yes, we also brought a Jantz raspberry pie and a loaf of pumpkin bread. We ate all of it over the weekend for both breakfast and lunch. For dinner we enjoyed ourselves. Life is a balance. This is real life, this is the reality. Being mindful and purposeful while also enjoying yourself is exactly what we encourage you to practice.

Finish strong. Stay consistent. Keep moving forward.
