The Magic To The Start Of 2026

There is so much happening at MidState CrossFit since the start of 2026, and I want to take a moment to acknowledge our athletes (YOU) for putting in the work and showing up for yourselves.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it truly means to be a strength and conditioning coach. About CrossFit. About what “Building Lifelong Fitness” actually means. At its core, it is the fight against frailty. Bone density, vascular health, mental clarity, are all by products of “looking better naked”. Ultimately, full range of motion in a joint and the overhead squat is not about completing the rep, it is a direct correlation to full body stability, balance, and mobility for life.

Research continues to reinforce what we see daily on the MSCF floor: the musculoskeletal system functions as the largest endocrine “system” in the body. It eats up glucose and stores all of the amino acids we need to build life. More muscle leads to more building blocks, leads to better health outcomes, full stop! Training with appropriate mechanics, and being dedicated to consistency, while pushing for intensity (especially for our female athletes) plays a major role in hormone regulation, particularly for those navigating peri-menopause and menopause.

For our men, standing shoulder to shoulder in pursuit of hard things carries real health benefits and serves as a powerful defense against loneliness, against dementia, and shockingly heart disease! As a father, as a husband, as a man trying to navigate life, I can not tell you how blessed I am to have so many of you to look up to, to be around, we are all going to level up together this year and beyond.

What we are building here matters. Athletes of all ages, from our kids program to our masters athletes, are committed to a movement practice. This is exactly how we navigate a life well lived, filled with adventure, resilience, and grace.

Some highlights include: new newsletter, new nutrition app with plenty more to come, a reborn kids program. The Standard Times Podcast will be dropping later this month! Athletes of all ability levels have stepped into Nor Cal Classic qualifiers. The OPEN is coming!

Outreach conversations are filled with goals and reinforcement. Athletes who were not here are absolutely back in class in January! We are doing the work that builds our bodies into robust machines made to move and drives our happiness forward into the spring and beyond.

This is my heartfelt thank you!

Keep believing in the magic. Nothing we do here is by accident. Coaches are giving and receiving feedback at a very high level and the class programming has been both hard and incredibly fun! We are committed to our own improvement, we are committed to your improvement. We will continue to share every knowledge bomb, life hack, and every coaching skill available to us to ensure your fitness and your health are expressed at the highest possible levels.

Bring-A-Friend Week is coming, February 2nd thru 6th. I am incredibly blessed to do this work, to have this space, and to have all of you in my life. My life’s purpose is filled with impact. If you know someone; a friend, an acquaintance, a cool person, who you believe would benefit from this lifestyle, make sure they come. I genuinely believe this is how we save the world. KEEP GOING!
